Hartpury Methodist Church
Safeguarding Policy
At the Church council in April 2006, it was decided to adopt the policy statement similar to that suggested in "Safeguarding", published by the Methodist Church:
As members of Hartpury Methodist Church we are concerned with the wholeness of each individual within God 's purpose for everyone. We seek to safeguard all members of the church community of all ages. It is the responsibility of each one of us to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
In practical terms we will make sure:-
- that all those currently working with children, young people and vulnerable adults have received a satisfactory C.R.B. clearance, and have read "Safeguarding" and accept its guidelines
- that a copy of “Safeguarding” is available in the church (in bookcase)
- that any new workers with children, young people and vulnerable adults will have undertaken a satisfactory C.R.B. clearance, and have read “Safeguarding” and accepted its guidelines
- that a copy of ‘Safeguarding at a Glance’ is displayed in the church and in the schoolroom
- that it is confirmed that any organisations working with children and young people and who wish to use the building must have their own safeguarding policy and have C.R.B. clearances for all adults working with these groups.
Janet Freeman is to he responsible for oversight of Safeguarding matters at Hartpury.
