Inaugural address by the new President of the Methodist Conference
The new President of the Methodist Conference, the Revd Martyn Atkins, issued a call to go back to the future in his inaugural address. Martyn said that the Church needs to rediscover the reasons why it was created in the first place, but not to look back to some golden age. Rather, this rediscovery needs to take account of 21st century society in order to renew the Church for the future.
Martyn was sworn in as President at the start of the 2007 Conference, meeting at the Norbreck Castle hotel in Blackpool. The full text of his address is here. It will also be available online at http://www.methodist.org.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=opentogod.webradio (opens in new window).
