Introduction to the Area

The Gloucestershire Circuit covers about two-thirds of the county of Gloucestershire. It is roughly coterminous with the area administered by Gloucestershire County Council, except (as the map above shows) a wide strip along the eastern border is excluded. The area administered by South Gloucestershire County Council is also largely excluded, with only the section around Charfield and Wickwar falling within the Circuit.

A small area of Herefordshire is also included.

It is also roughly coterminous with the Anglican Diocese of Gloucester, with the Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham Deaneries of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton, and covers part of the West Midlands District of the United Reformed Church.
