Martin Turner

Born in 1948 and grew up in suburban Essex. Trained as a teacher, teaching for four years in the East End of London. Called to the Methodist Ministry he was trained at Wesley College, Bristol and then West Hill, Birmingham for a post graduate course in Youth and Community Work. He has served as Assistant Minister, Youth Centre Leader and University Chaplain at the Bradford Mission; Minister at the St Andrew's Church and Community Centre in Halifax; Minister at Hatfield Road, St. Albans and Redbourn Churches in Hertfordshire; Superintendent Minister of the Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted Circuit, where he also served as Chaplain at The Mount Prison; Superintendent Minister at the Methodist Central Hall Westminster. At a national level Martin has been a "Conference Elected" member of the Methodist Conference for many years and a member of the Methodist Strategy and Resources Committee and of the Methodist Council. He is married to Biddy with three adult children and four grandchildren. Spare time is taken up with walking, gardening, fishing, antiques and armchair football.
