A functioning chaplaincy service remains in place at Cheltenham General & Gloucestershire Royal Hospitals. Although volunteer teams have been seriously diminished, they are still able to offer support to people who come into hospital. This is especially important when general visiting has been restricted to one visitor per patient between 1pm & 6pm and many friends and family are reluctant to come to the hospitals.

Holy Communion will continue to be given to all who request it, although this may not be on a Sunday.

If a patient has Covid-19 there are restrictions on what the Chaplaincy Team are able to do as they must comply with strict infection control regulations. Contact, however restricted, will still be made to ensure they get the support they need.

If you have someone in Cheltenham General or Gloucestershire Royal Hospital that would like a visit and some support from the Chaplaincy team, please contact: 0300 422 6200 Gloucester or 0300 422 4286 Cheltenham and leave a message if there is no one to take the call. Alternatively you can email:

Do not worry if you don't know which hospital the person has been admitted — they will find them if they are there.
