UPDATE: Through the streets of London to Rochester & Canterbury

Having ridden for 17 days, often facing difficult weather and tough terrain, John and his trusty bike are now refreshed after a bit of TLC and repair.

Bank Holiday Monday it was back into London by train, then cycling around the quiet city streets to Westminster, St Paul's, and Southwark Cathedrals. John's journey also included the 'Cathedral of Methodism' at nearby Westminster Central Hall opposite the Houses of Parliament.

Heading east into Kent, John stopped at a service station in Bexley Heath for refreshments and found the place buzzing...with a swarm of bees! After a swift exit it was off to Rochester and a quick visit to the Cathedral, a place of Christian worship on the banks of the River Medway since AD604.

Finally it was off to Canterbury Cathedral — the place of so many tales and the seat of England's Archbishop. Total mileage around England now around 1,370 bike miles.

Revd John Kime is taking part in the Cathedrals Cycle Route Challenge, cycling 2000 miles around across England bearing a letter from the Methodist Church's Bristol District Chair, the Revd Dr Jonathan Pye, highlighting the urgent issue of climate change and climate justice.

The letter calls to support actions which will care for creation in a proactive way, lobby the Government which is hosting the COP 26 talks in Glasgow for lasting commitments to care for our planet, and for individuals to take steps 'to tread more lightly upon this earth'.
