Hosting Bea Hulme for the last weekend of January was an absolute pleasure. Bea was elected at 3generate to serve as the Methodist Youth President for 2024 to 2025. The role of youth president is a full-time position and is part of the connexional team, acting as a voice for children and young people across the Methodist Church.
Whilst Bea was visiting she had the opportunity to meet with lots of young people, lay workers, presbyters, and to visit some youth groups. Something that stood out to all those who met Bea was her passion and energy to give young people a voice and to see them grow deeper in their relationships with Jesus.
During the Sunday morning service at Bethesda Methodist Church, Bea told us about the best youth worker she has ever known. This youth worker was an 80-year old man from her local Methodist church. He supported her, was kind and non-judgemental, and was committed to friendship. Bea says that this simple relationship with this man has deeply impacted her life and her relationship with Jesus. What an incredible encouragement! We often think that to work with and support young people you need to be young, hip and trendy but that couldn't be further from the reality – we are all responsible – of any age, shape or size to support and journey with young people in our churches.
It was a real delight to have Bea visit us. Please do continue to pray for our children, young people, and families across the circuit... And for those we are yet to connect with.
