President & Vice President visit

On Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March, the Bristol Methodist District is hosting the President and Vice President of the Methodist Conference – Revd Richard Andrew and Matthew Forsyth.

There are several special events planned and everyone from around the Bristol District is invited to join these events, which explore this year's theme of 'Our Story, Our Song'.

Who are the President and Vice President? Each year at the Methodist Conference, a President (an ordained presbyter) and Vice-President (a lay person or deacon) are elected. John Wesley was the original President of the Methodist Conference but after his death it was agreed that in future, so much authority would not be placed in the hands of one person. Each President and Vice-President serves for one year only.

During their time in office the President and Vice-President travel the length and breadth of Britain meeting many different people and congregations. They also represent Methodism in the wider world, for example at the Cenotaph in London on Remembrance Sunday.

The President, Revd Richard, will be at Flourish's Breakfast and Gathering for Pioneers, Wanderers and Wonderers at The Haven, Speedwell, on Saturday 28 February between 10am and 12pm. This is open to all Pioneers and people passionate about the edges of Church. It's for people across the District so please do join them. There will also be a Bristol Methodist District service at Midsomer Norton Methodist Church on Sunday 1 March at 3pm. This will feature stores of Eco Church and testimonies from around the District, as well as uplifting drama, worship and a district choir alongside an address by the President.
